Learn to Skate with CanSkatePreston FSC follows the CanSkate curriculum which is designed by Skate Canada, our national skating body. We have two streams, Buddies on Blades for our youngest skaters (ages 3 & 4) and CanSkate for children aged 5 and up. Information on offerings for the current and upcoming seasons can be found on our registration page.
CanSkate is a dynamic learn-to-skate program that focuses on fun, participation and basic skill development. The CanSkate program promotes physical activity and fitness, and is a stepping stone to all other ice sports.
Taught by NCCP-trained coaches and assisted by trained program assistants, skaters will learn a complete series of balance, control and agility skills taught in six stages of learning that pertain to figure skating, hockey, ringette, and speed skating as well as general recreational skating. CanSkate uses nationally-tested and proven curriculum and delivery methods that guarantee skater success in developing stronger basic skills.
CanSkate is designed for beginners of all ages, as well as for those wishing to improve their basic skills whether their focus be for figure skating, hockey, speed skating or just skating for fun. All you need are skates, a CSA-approved hockey helmet and warm clothes. Private lessons are available for skaters who wish to progress through CanSkate at a faster rate through one-on-one instruction.
